Saheli Smart Card Launch: In a move to promote safe and affordable public transport, the Delhi government on Sunday, November 2, announced that it would launch the ‘Pink Saheli Smart Card’, offering free travel for women and transgender passengers across Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses and cluster buses.

With the launch of the Pink Saheli Smart Card, women and transgender individuals aged 12 or above can enjoy free travel on DTC and cluster buses across Delhi, making daily commuting safer and more affordable.

Announcing the launch of the Pink Saheli Smart Card on X, the Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, wrote, “The Delhi government has launched the 'Pink Saheli Smart Card' for women and transgender. Now, daughters, sisters, and mothers above 12 years of age will be able to travel free and conveniently on DTC and cluster buses.”

“This initiative is a significant step towards making travel easier for women in Delhi, promoting the use of public transport, and providing more facilities and respect to women's power,” she added.

Details About Pink Saheli Smart Card

- According to DTC officials, the Pink Saheli Smart Card will be issued under the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) framework.

- The personalised smart card will feature the name and photograph of the holder, reducing the risk of theft or misuse.

- The card will offer free bus travel on all Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses.

- Additionally, the smart card will support recharge and top-up options fro use on other modes of transport across the national capital, making commuting easier and convenient for women and transgender commuters.

- “To avail of the digital card, applicants must be bona fide residents of Delhi, aged 12 years or above, and possess valid identification proof,” news agency PTI reported.

- Interested applicants can register online for the Pink Saheli Smart Card on the official Delhi government website and the dedicated Saheli Card portal.

DTC Invites Bank For Smart Card Issuance

Earlier, the DTC had issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) to empanel banks for the issuance of Smart Cards for travel across all public transport systems in Delhi. This included a dedicated bus travel card for women and transgender passengers, both issued under the NCMC framework.
