Mumbai Police has traced the caller who threatened to kill Bollywood actor Salman Khan either by blowing up his car with a bomb or breaking into his home. The number was traced to belong to a 26-year-old man in a village near Vadodara in Gujarat, ANI reported citing Mumbai Police.

The accused has been sent a notice to appear before the Worli Police within 2-3 days. It is also being claimed that the man is mentally unstable and is receiving treatment.

A comprehensive probe was launched after Worli Traffic Control Room's WhatsApp number received the threatening message targeting Salman Khan. Security was heightened outside his house in Bandra and a case was registered against an unnamed individual at Worli Police Station.

Notably, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has time and again issued threats to Salman Khan. Last year, two men on a motorcycle fired shots outside Salman's Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra. Following the incident, Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi's brother, claimed responsibility in an online post, describing it as a "preview" and issuing a warning to the Bollywood actor. Several miscreants were nabbed by the police in connection with the firing incident.

Two months later, Navi Mumbai Police claimed to have discovered a plot to kill the actor when he travelled to his farmhouse at Panvel.

After these incidents, security was enhanced with bulletproof glass protecting Khan’s balcony and CCTV cameras keeping watch on the road outside.

In his first reaction over the threats, Khan said everything was up to god and whatever life is destined is destined. “It is up to Bhagwan, Allah. Whatever life is destined is destined. That's all. I cannot do anything about it (security). Khallas. So I go from Galaxy (home) to shoot to Galaxy, no detours,” he said.

The group is believed to be targeting the actor over his alleged involvement in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.
