Sambhal News: A fresh row erupted in Sambhal on Saturday after an opposition delegation led by Uttar Pradesh Leader of Opposition (LoP) Mata Prasad Pandey was stopped from visiting the violence-affected area of Chandausi by the district administration. Reports suggest that in view of the highly sensitive nature of the region, the district administration ramped up efforts to stop political leaders and others from entering the area.

Meanwhile, Mata Prasad claimed that he received a phone call from the district magistrate (DM) of Sambhal, who asked him not to visit the district amid the ongoing tensions in the area.

Following the alleged phone call, Pandey demanded a written notice from the district officials.

'They (administration) should have given me a notice as per the rules that I cannot go there, but no written notice was given. They only talk on the telephone. They deployed the police. The Justice Commission is going there, media people are going there, will there be any unrest if we go there? This government is deliberately stopping us to hide all its work," Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Mata Prasad Pandey told ANI.

Later, a notice was served to the Samajwadi leader. Pandey and other members of the 15-members of the delegation said that they will decide on the further course of action after meeting the party leadership.

SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav lambasted the BJP government over today's events, terming the entry ban a "failure of the BJP government's governance."

Taking to X, the Samajwadi leader attacked the Yogi government and said "If the government had imposed such a ban earlier on those who dreamed of causing riots and made people raise frenzied slogans, the atmosphere of harmony and peace in Sambhal would not have been spoiled."

"Just like the BJP changes the entire cabinet at once, similarly, the entire administrative board from top to bottom in Sambhal should be suspended and dismissed by accusing them of negligence due to conspiracy and strict action should be taken against them and a case should also be filed against them for murder of someone. BJP has lost," he wrote.

Police also stopped Samajwadi Party MP Harendra Singh Malik and his supporters who were planning to visit Sambhal at the Delhi-Ghaziabad border.

"They have stopped us and are saying that the officials will talk to us. As per protocol, the member of Parliament should be treated above the cabinet secretary of the government of India. Unfortunately, we have been stopped from holding talks with ACP...We are waiting for the ACP to come," said Samajwadi Party MP Harendra Singh Malik.

Outsiders Banned From Entering District Till Dec 10

Meanwhile, in a bid to maintain peace and order in the district, the Sambhal district magistrate on Saturday prohibited the entry of outsiders till December 10.

"No outsider, any social organisation or any public representative can enter into the borders of the district without seeking the permission of the competent authority till December 10," Sambhal District Magistrate Rajendra Pensiya in a statement issued here.

Congress Attacks Yogi Govt

After the SP delegation was stopped from visiting Sambhal, Congress asked what district administration was hiding.

"What is the district administration hiding? Why does the state government not want the opposition to visit Sambhal? They should allow the delegation to visit Sambhal," party leader Pramod Tiwari asked.
