'Will Forget I Am An MP, Kill You': Sanjay Dina Patil, Who Crossed Over To Shinde Sena, Abuses Journalists On Camera

Sanjay Dina Patil, one of the six MPs who switched to Shiv Sena MP recently, lost his cool and abused journalists on Thursday. Patil didn't stop at abusing and went on to threaten the journalists to kill them.

Patil's argument started after he was asked a question about Rajul Patil, his daughter-in-law, who is a BMC corporator from Mumbai's Bhandup area. After the split in Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), Sanjay joined Shinde's Shiv Sena while Rajul visited Uddhav Thackeray's residence, Matoshree, to express her wish to continue to be in UBT, unlike her father-in-law.

In a viral video, Sanjay could be heard saying, "I spoke to you for two minutes now. Now you are going too far. Stop it now. Otherwise, I will forget that I am an MP. I respect you, respect me. You are just pointing your finger at my ****. Record this. I respect you. Don't go to your head. If you come back now, I will kill you, people. Write whatever you want to write. Record it and complain to the commissioner. I endured it for a long time."

He went on and said, "If you come, I will kill you. Record what I am saying now. If you come to me now to ask questions, you will be beaten. Write this down. Record it. If you come to me, you will be beaten. File whatever complaint you want. I am telling you in front of the police. That's it, I have endured a lot".

What's the row?

The controversy started on Patil's earlier remarks, where he was apparently responding to UBT leader Sanjay Raut's call of "Operation Tudva" (bash up) following the defection of the six MPs.

Patil had lost his cool and said that when his father, Dina Patil (former Congress MLA) was attacked, they had killed five people, without elaborating further. Patil even threatened to "throw bombs", enter their homes and "kill them" who attack him.

His remarks were believed to be aimed at Raut, who was recently caught abusing the defecting MPs twice.

Raut was quick to write to the Mumbai Police Commissioner, seeking action against Patil. When asked about the complaint and Rajul's stance, Patil again lost his cool and started abusing and threatening the journalists.

Shinde tries damage control

Shiv Sena chief and Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde tried damage control when asked for his reaction outside the state legislature complex.

"Sanjay Dina Patil had no intention to insult the journalists....If anyone has been hurt by his words, he has expressed his willingness to express regret," Shinde said.

"I have clearly told Sanjay Dina Patil that if you have made any untoward remarks, you should express regret," he added.
