In a major relief to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the suspension of its Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Singh, has been lifted by the upper house. This came a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Delhi Excise Policy Case.

Sharing the information on his official X handle, Singh expressed gratitude towards Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Notably, Sanjay Singh was suspended from the Rajya Sabha last year during the monsoon session due to unruly behaviour.

“After almost a year, I got the permission to enter Parliament. The suspension is over. Heartfelt thanks to honourable Chairman and Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankar Ji, Chairman of the Privilege Committee and all the honourable members,” he posted on X.

On Wednesday, AAP leader Sanjay Singh said that he would discuss the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal with the leaders of the INDIA alliance and request them to raise this issue in the Parliament. Singh accused the BJP-led central government of misusing investigative agencies to target opposition parties.

At a press conference, Singh alleged that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) were acting with malice and political vendetta against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

President Droupadi Murmu will today address a joint session of the Parliament. The AAP is likely to boycott her address in protest over Kejriwal’s arrest.

"Today we will protest in the Rajya Sabha against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and we will boycott the President's address. The President and the Constitution are supreme and when dictatorship is done in the name of justice, it is important to raise our voices. We did not have a discussion with the remaining parties of the INDIA alliance regarding this but our party will boycott the President's address," AAP MP Sandeep Pathak said.
