A case has been registered against Congress MLA Babu Jandel from Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh, for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Lord Shiva, accused of hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. The FIR was lodged at Indore’s Tukoganj police station on Friday night, following a complaint from Anil Naidu, convener of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's legal cell for the Malwa Prant region, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Hansraj Singh said that the charges against Babu Jandel were filed under sections 299 and 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with intentional acts aimed at outraging religious feelings. The complaint is set to be attached to a similar case already registered against Jandel in Sheopur, related to the same incident.
Anil Naidu's complaint cites a viral video, allegedly showing Babu Jandel using abusive language toward Lord Shiva, sparking outrage among Hindus. The video circulated on social media and was also reported in the news.
