Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: The health condition of Ladakh's social activist Sonam Wangchuk, admitted in Safdarjung Hospital, is currently stable, but the doctors' concerns about his health have not completely subsided. In the health bulletin issued by Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday morning, the hospital said that all his vital parameters are stable, although his blood sugar level is still below normal.
Monitoring, Regular Checkups Are Necessary: Doctors
According to the health bulletin, blood tests showed a potassium level of 3.2 mEq/L. He also continued to have symptoms of pancytopenia (a deficiency of all three major blood cells).
These include anemia and a low white blood cell (leukocyte) count. Doctors said that these abnormal lab test results require constant monitoring and regular checkups.
Sonam Refuses To Take Intravenous Fluids, Glucose
The hospital said Sonam Wangchuk is currently receiving oral rehydration solution (ORS) and oral potassium supplements. However, despite repeated advice from doctors, he has refused intravenous fluids and glucose.
The health bulletin stated that he still has mild to moderate dehydration due to the prolonged fast. Therefore, continued medical supervision and clinical monitoring are essential for timely identification and treatment of potential complications.
He is being monitored by a joint multidisciplinary team of experts from Safdarjung Hospital and AIIMS. According to the hospital, he is being provided with all necessary medical care. Further treatment and any decisions regarding his condition will be based on his clinical progress and serial laboratory test reports.
