- Sonam Wangchuk threatens hunger strike if detainees not released.
- Delhi Police detained over 3,000 CJP protesters.
- Activist calls situation an 'undeclared Emergency' in India.
CJP Protests: Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Saturday said he would resort to a march or hunger strike if all detainees are not released by Sunday. The Cockroach Janta Party, Left organisations and Aam Aadmi Party launched massive protests in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Appealing to authorities to release of all the detainees, the activist termed the situation an undeclared "Emergency".
INDIA IN A STATE OF UNDECLARED EMERGENCY... Yesterday when I posted a message appealing for unity & peace in today's protest I had never imagined that the biggest democracy in the world would be under an undeclared EMERGENCY. I was happy there were so many leaders to lead the movement, but I now learn that they have all been arrested. I hope those arrested will be released soon. I will be compelled to consider an Anshan Fast or Padyatra March if they are not released by tomorrow. #JantarMantar #protest #CJP #CEC #sonamwangchuk

Delhi Police Detains More Than 3,000 Protesters
Meanwhile, Delhi Police detained more than 3,000 protesters, who were trying to reach Jantar Mantar for the proposed CJP stir.
Former West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, five Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs, ex-Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan were among detainees.
News agency PTI, quoting sources, reported that the protesters were detained across the New Delhi area and other districts, where police are using drones to monitor the movement of people attempting to reach the protest site.
The protesters were detained from several places, including near Regal Cinema, Minto Bridge and near Akashwani Bhawan. Ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) proposed protest at Jantar Mantar, police sources said over 600 people with criminal records were also detained across all the districts of the national capital as part of preventive measures.
The preventive action is aimed at ensuring that people with criminal backgrounds do not create a law-and-order situation during the proposed demonstration.
Police are also keeping a close watch on the movements of certain people, who could mobilise crowds or influence others to participate in the proposed protest.
