Delhi's Gurdwara Bangla Sahib on Saturday became a shelter for the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) protesters after they entered the Sikh shrine amid a stir over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Several videos on social media show a large crowd on the premises of the Gurdwara raising anti-Chief Election Commission slogans.

In one of the videos, a group of policemen are seen entering the Gurdwara. India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora, who was also detained, slammed Delhi Police for entering Gurdwara Bangla Sahib. "Shameful! The police have entered Gurdwara Bangla Sahib to detain young people protesting against vote chori. Have they forgotten the sanctity and dignity of a Gurdwara?," she wrote on X.

Former Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj also shared a video of Bangla Sahib, saying "Did the police enter Gurudwara Bangla Sahib today? Is the BJP Govt out of its senses ? They are wearing shoes and are not covering their heads."

Gurdwara Bangla Sahib Provided Shelter For CJP Protesters In July

In the past, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib also provided shelter to the CJP protesters. On July 21, as police chased and dispersed protesters across central Delhi, the gates of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib opened to hundreds of youths seeking refuge after they were subjected to baton charges, tear gas and chaos during the "Chalo Sansad" march. A large crowd gathered outside the gurdwara as protesters, who participated in the Cockroach Janata Party's (CJP) Parliament march, sought shelter inside.

Meanwhile, several key figures, including three former chief ministers - Mamata Banerjee, Arvind Kejriwal and Pinarayi Vijayan - were detained. Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Kejriwal gave the "Delhi chalo" call, urging youth across the country to reach the national capital to demand the resignation of the chief election commissioner over alleged "vote theft", shortly before he was detained by the Delhi Police.

He also urged protesters to start their demonstrations wherever police stopped them and said the entire country could become Jantar Mantar. As police personnel detained Kejriwal, AAP leaders and workers tried to hold on to him and prevent them from taking him away.

Dipke And Other CJP Leaders Detained

Earlier in the day, the CJP leaders Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained from inside the aircraft by Delhi Police as soon as their flight landed in the national capital. The CJP leaders had arrived here from Mumbai for their protest at Jantar Mantar against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
