CJP Protest: Activist Sonam Wangchuk on Friday said he would not participate in the Cockroach Janta Party's proposed October 10 protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, saying he was busy with works related to climate.

However, in his video message on X, he wished the best of luck to CJP leaders, saying he hoped they wouldn't let Baapu (Mahatma Gandhi) down.

"WHY I WON'T BE ABLE TO JOIN YOU ALL IN DELHI...! Despite all efforts of the government to hinder & damage our work we continue to work for national security... making preparations as another winter comes. This includes making artificial glaciers for water security & experiments for GLOF or glacial lake flood security... to diffuse the 200+ ticking water bombs in the high Himalayas. Adapting Faiz Sahab's words I would say," his X post read.

Wangchuk also cited lines of a shayari: Aur Bhi Gham Hain Zamaane Main Siyaast Ke Siva...Rahaten aur bhi hain wasl ki raahat ke siva (There are other sorrows in the world besides love… There are other comforts besides the joy of union) to convey his message.

Message for Gen Z

In his message to Gen Z, he urged them to once again stay absolutely peaceful at all costs during their proposed protest against the CEC.

"Hence I send my bestest wishes to all & urge the leaders of different groups to stay united & show statesmanship, meanwhile I urge all the genZ friends to once again stay absolutely peaceful at all costs. This was the gift of Baapu that I tried to bring to Jantar Mantar in June, I hope we won't let Baapu down. #JantarMantar #protest #CJP #CEC #sonamwangchuk," his post read.

Delhi Fortified Ahead Of CJP Protest

Meanwhile, security has been stepped up at the borders connecting Noida with Delhi, with police personnel and Border Security Force (BSF) jawans deployed at key points ahead of a major protest called by the CJP in the national capital. Residents of Noida and Greater Noida commuting to Delhi and Gurugram expressed concerns over possible traffic congestion, diversions and delays due to heightened security arrangements ahead of Saturday's protest.

Police teams have begun checking vehicles considered suspicious and questioning people wherever necessary, officials said. Security personnel are keeping a close watch on buses, taxis and private cars entering Delhi from Noida.
