Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: Sonam Raghuvanshi had warned her family of "consequences" when they disapproved of her relationship with Raj Kushwaha and were forcing her to marry Raja Raghwanshi. Raja and his wife Sonam went missing while vacationing in Meghalaya's Sohra area on May 23. Raja's body was found in a gorge at Sohrarim near Cherrapunji on June 2. Sonam was located at a Dhaba in Gazipur on Monday, from where UP Police took her into custody. She was then handed over to Meghalaya Police.
Raja’s elder brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi told police that Sonam had informed her mother about the affair with Raj Kushwaha, before her wedding, as per an NDTV report. Raj Kushwaha (20) who worked as an accountant at Sonam’s family’s business, was not rejected by the family as a match.
Sonam’s Warning
“Vipin said Sonam had already informed her mother about her affair with Raj. She said she did not want to marry Raja. Her mother, however, objected to the relationship (with Raj),” a police source said, as quoted by an NDTV report.
“Vipin alleged that Sonam agreed to compromise and marry Raja, but warned of consequences. She said, 'You will see what I do to that person. You all will have to bear the consequences. No one thought she would kill Raja,” the source added.
Raja Raghuvanshi’s killing at the hands of hitmen hired by his wife, Sonam, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya has become a topic of discussion across the country. As the probe proceeds further, several shocking revelations have been made by the police in the case. As per reports, Sonam plotted the killing of her husband with the help of her lover Raj Kushwaha. The duo hired three contract killers, who were later found to be friends of Raj.
