Tamil Nadu Weather: IMD, Chennai has issued an alert for very heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning in Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Nilgiris from June 14 to 16. Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds (speed 30 to 40 kmph) is likely to occur at many places in North Tamil Nadu, a few places in South Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas on Wednesday. Meanwhile, capital city Chennai is expected to witness rainfall activity with varying intensity from June 11 to 17.

June 11: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Tiruvannamalai, Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Viluppuram, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Ariyalur and Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
June 12: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nilgiris, Ghat areas of Coimbatore district, Theni, Tenkasi, Tiruvallur and Ranipet districts of Tamil Nadu.
June 13: Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ghat areas of Tirunelveli district, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu.
June 14: Heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places with extremely heavy rain at one or two places is likely to occur over Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ghat areas of Tirunelveli, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu.
June 15: Heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places with extremely heavy rain at one or two places is likely to occur over Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore, Tirunelveli districts; Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Theni and Dindigul districts of Tamil Nadu.
June 16: Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore district, Theni and Tenkasi districts of Tamil Nadu.
