In the latest development in the killing of Suvendu Adhikari's personal assistant, the police have arrested three men in connection to the murder. The killers of Chandranath Rath were identified as Vishal Srivastava, Raj Singh, and Mayank Mishra. The three were arrested in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
The investigators traced the killers through an UPI payment made at a toll booth in Bally near Kolkata. The incident had taken place days after Suvendu Adhikari was elected as the Chief Minister of West Bengal in the 2026 Assembly election by defeated former CM Mamata Banerjee.
How Was The Killing Executed?
Rath was shot dead when he was returning home in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas, on Wednesday. The assailants shot him at around 10:10 pm. He was sitting in the passenger seat of his SUV when a Nissan blocked his way. Following this, the bike-borne men shot him and used another car and bike to flee.
How Were Killers Caught?
Upon scanning the CCTV footage, the police discovered that the car had paid at a toll booth through UPI. Following this, the investigators nabbed the three.
The investigators say that the arrested men were professional killers. Vishal is from Buxar, Bihar. While Singh and Misra have their roots in Uttar Pradesh.

Shrivastava has 15 criminal cases lodged against him. The crimes involve murder and robbery.
Police have found two bikes and seized the Micra car so far. The investigation suggests that all three were stolen, and the car even carried a fake number plate, NDTV reported.
Suvendu Adhikari has termed the killing of Rath a "pre-planned" and "cold-blooded murder," which showcases the "15 years of Maha-Jungle Raj." He believes that the gunmen carried out a "recce for two to three days."
