Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Union government, asserting that Hindi imposition has "exceeded all boundaries" following a naming controversy at a railway facility in Tiruchirappalli.

The dispute arose after the entrance of the Tiruchirappalli Railway Divisional Office was recently branded as "Kartavya Dwar" (Gate of Duty). Taking to social media platform X, the Chief Minister described the move as a "vile" attempt to push Hindi under the guise of a "one language, three scripts" policy. He specifically criticised the practice of transliterating Hindi terms into Tamil and English scripts rather than using actual Tamil words.

Concerns Over 'One Language' Agenda

Stalin demanded that the "Kartavya Dwar" signage be removed and replaced with appropriate Tamil terminology immediately. He warned that the Union government would face "the heat of the Tamils" if these efforts to sideline the local language continued.

The DMK president further listed several instances where he believes Sanskrit or Hindi names have been forced upon the public, including "Bhavishya Nidhi Bhavan" for EPFO offices, the renaming of the Water Resources Ministry to "Jal Shakti," and the use of Sanskrit titles for new criminal laws. He also noted changes to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme as evidence of increasing "arrogance" from the Centre, calling on the people to protect the self-respect of the Tamil identity.
