Tamil Nadu Crime News: A girl was sexually assaulted and 13 others were abused at a fraudulent National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, according to police reports. Authorities announced on Monday that eleven individuals, including the organiser of the camp, the school's principal, two teachers and a school correspondent, have been arrested.

Investigations revealed that the private school involved had no legitimate NCC unit. Instead, a group falsely claimed that hosting such a camp would provide them with one. The school management failed to conduct proper background checks before bringing the group on board.

The three-day camp, held earlier this month, involved 41 students, including 17 girls. The girls were housed in the school auditorium on the first floor, while the boys were on the ground floor. Alarmingly, no teachers were assigned to supervise the camp. Reports indicate that the girls were lured out of the auditorium and assaulted.

NDTV report quoted District Superintendent of Police P. Thangadurai as saying that, “The school authorities were aware of the sexual offences but chose to conceal the matter instead of notifying the police. Students were allegedly told not to take the situation seriously.”

The police are also investigating whether the group behind this fake NCC camp has conducted similar events in other schools. The accused face charges under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Medical examinations of the affected girls have been completed and the District Child Welfare Committee has initiated further action. This incident has sparked outrage nationwide, particularly in light of the recent horrific rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata.
