Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the city and several northern coastal districts, forecasting moderate thunderstorms and light to moderate rain across many coastal and interior areas today. The alert comes after a low-pressure area formed over the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lankan coast, accompanied by a cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above mean sea level.

Tamil Nadu Districts Under Rainfall Alert 

Districts under the orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall on Monday include Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur, along with the Karaikal region, where residents have been advised to stay cautious and avoid waterlogged routes. Additionally, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, and Puducherry are also expected to receive heavy rain today.

Chennai Weather Forecast 

The yellow alert for Chennai will remain in place on Monday, with heavy to very heavy rain likely as the low-pressure system continues to impact weather conditions along the north Tamil Nadu coast.

On November 17, temperatures will range between 29 and 24 Degree Celsius. The forecast indicates a generally cloudy sky with spells of heavy rain and intense rainfall.

On November 18, temperatures are expected to range between 29 and 24  Degree Celsius. The forecast suggests a partly cloudy sky with chances of moderate rain, thunderstorms, and periods of heavy rainfall.

On Nov 19, the temperature will be 30/24 Degree Celsius with a generally cloudy sky and light rain. On Nov 20, the temperature will be 30 /25 Degree Celsius and the sky will remain generally cloudy with light rain.

On 21 Nov, the temperature will be 29/26 Degree Celsius with a generally cloudy sky and heavy rainfall. On 22 Nov, the temperature will remain 29 /26 Degree Celsius, accompanied by a cloudy sky with heavy rain.

On 23 Nov, the temperature will be 30/25 Degree Celsius with a generally cloudy sky. The day is expected to bring moderate rain.

Tamil Nadu Tuesday Weather 

For Tuesday, heavy rain has been forecast for the southern districts, including Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Virudhunagar, Tenkasi, and Theni.
