The weather department has advised the local authorities to stay on alert as the rainfall is likely to intensify on October 23 and 24. The coastal regions are set to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds, along with the heavy rainfall. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to flood-like situations in the lower areas and waterlogging in key cities. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga, Pudukkottai, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thiruvarur, Thanjavur, Chengalpattu, and Villupuram, are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday.
