Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that while the coastal regions are likely to witness heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the other regions are set to experience light to moderate rainfall. The continuous rainfall is also likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The IMD has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Kallakurichi, and Tiruvannamalai, are likely to witness heavy rainfall on October 2. It further informed that some of the other districts, including Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Perambalur, Mayiladuthurai, and Puducherry, are also expected to receive rainfall on October 3. Apart from rainfall, these districts are also likely to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 40 to 60 kmph.
The IMD also stated that the capital city, Chennai, is also likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 35 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 26 degrees Celsius. However, the continuous rainfall is likely to cause waterlogging in the key areas, leading to slow vehicular movements.
The weather department has advised the fishermen of the coastal regions to follow the guidelines and limit their financial activities to avoid any inconveniences. Apart from Tamil Nadu, several other states, including Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat, are also likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall for the next few days.
