Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rain alert for several districts of Tamil Nadu for the next three days. The weather department asserted that along with heavy downpours, the coastal regions are also expected to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. It stated that several regions of the Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari districts are likely to witness light to moderate rain on Sunday and in the upcoming days. The continuous rainfall is likely to disrupt the vehicular movement and could also lead to power outages in the key cities. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Thoothukudi, Nellai, Tenkasi, and Kanyakumari, are likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall on Sunday. It further stated that the residents of these districts are also set to experience lightning and gusty winds. These districts have already been witnessing rainfall for the past few days, leading to waterlogging in several regions.

"An atmospheric upper-level circulation is prevailing over the Gulf of Mannar and the adjacent Kumarikadal areas. An atmospheric low-level circulation is prevailing over the Tamil Nadu areas," the Chennai Meteorological Department stated in its advisory.
The IMD also stated that several districts, including Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Sivaganga, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dindigul, Theni, and Tenkasi, are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall at least till November 12.

The residents of the capital city Chennai are expected to experience cloudy skies and gentle breezes. Apart from this, the rain-hit regions are also likely to witness a drop in temperature in the upcoming weeks. The weather department has also advised the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies to avoid inconveniences.
