Tamil Nadu Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that several districts of Tamil Nadu are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. The weather department stated that the temperature in most of the districts is likely to drop by two to four degrees Celsius. These regions are also set to witness cold waves and fog in the early hours, leading to inconveniences for the commuters. The weather department has stated that the coastal regions of other southern states are also likely to witness rain in the upcoming days. It further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.

While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts, including Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, and Pudukkottai, are likely to witness light to moderate rain on the eve of the new year. It further stated that along with these districts, several regions of Puducherry are also set to receive rainfall for the next few days. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences.

The weather department stated that the capital city, Chennai, is not likely to witness rain; however, the temperature is likely to drop in the upcoming days. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 27 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is set to remain around 20 degrees Celsius. The presence of fog in the morning hours is likely to lead to inconvenience to the commuters, the weather department stated.

Apart from this, several hilly regions, including Nilgiris and Kodaikanal, are likely to witness colder conditions in the upcoming days. The IMD has advised the residents of these regions to take adequate precautions against the cold weather. Several other states, including Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, are also likely to witness a cold wave in the upcoming days.
