There have been a plethora of incidents when miscreants have tried to derail various trains across different routes by placing different items, including gas cylinders and iron rods.

A few days ago, there was an attempt to derail the Kalindi Express train by placing an LPG cylinder on the tracks on the Kanpur-Kasganj rail route. As per the probe agency, a few miscreants hatched a conspiracy to blow up the track and set the train on fire. A petrol bomb, a bag containing a box of sweets filled with a powder resembling explosives, and a matchbox were found at the scene.

Teams from ATS (Anti-Terrorism Squad), IB (Intelligence Bureau), and NIA (National Investigation Agency) were employed to investigate the case.

Earlier this month, a six-meter-long iron rod was discovered on the tracks between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur city. The loco pilot applied the emergency brakes upon noticing the rod and cleared the track. An FIR was registered at the GRP Police Station in Rampur under various sections of the Railways Act 1989 against unidentified individuals.

"On 18.09.24 at 22.18 hrs, Loco Pilot of train number 12091 reported to the Station Master of Rudrapur City that he found one 6-meter-long iron pole on the track between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur City at km 43/10-11.
