Train Ticket From Post Office: Travelers facing difficulties in getting train tickets during festivals like Diwali and Chhath Puja can now take a sigh of relief. The Railways and India Post have collaborated to introduce a new facility allowing passengers to book train tickets from their nearest post office.

This service is specifically designed for people residing in rural, semi-urban, and remote areas where railway stations and reservation counters are not available. Under this initiative, select post offices have been integrated with the railway's Passenger Reservation System (PRS). Most of these post offices are located in rural and semi-urban areas.

To book a ticket, passengers can visit their nearest PRS-enabled post office and share their travel details with the staff, including destination, date, train number or name, and class. The post office staff will then book the ticket and print it instantly upon payment, which can be made in cash or digitally.

This ticket will be a fully valid reservation ticket issued by the railways. The initiative aims to reduce the rush during festivals and provide travel facilities to people in rural areas.

Who Will Benefit With Post Office Ticketing System

This service will particularly benefit senior citizens and those unfamiliar with technology, who can now book tickets without having to visit a railway station or cyber cafe. The new arrangement will also reduce the load on the online system, minimizing server issues and making ticket booking easier for passengers.

By providing this service, the Railways and India Post aim to increase transparency and reduce dependence on travel agents. The service is currently available at 333 post offices across the country, and passengers can book tickets for all classes, including General, Sleeper, and AC.
