A disturbing video from Madhya Pradesh's Ujjain has sparked outrage after it allegedly showed a self-styled 'Aghori' consuming human flesh from a burning funeral pyre at a cremation ground.

The accused, identified as Kali alias Nand Giri, claimed to be a Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara. The purported video, reportedly filmed at the Chakratirth cremation ground, surfaced on Instagram and was widely circulated on social media, triggering public outrage.

In the viral footage, the woman is seen standing beside a burning pyre with a sword before engaging in the act. The video also showed the woman applying ashes from the burning pyre to her body.

Investigators believe the video was recorded and uploaded from the accused's own social media account, prompting a formal complaint by the Senapati Kaal Bhairav Committee.

Aghor Akhara Condemns The Act

The Aghor Ashram and Aghor Akhara have strongly condemned the viral video, calling it an insult to the Aghori tradition and Sanatan culture. National President Khadeshwari Aghori Baba Vishnu Nath submitted a complaint demanding strict action against those allegedly spreading hypocrisy in the name of Aghor practices.

In the complaint, the Akhara stated that authentic Aghor sadhana is a disciplined spiritual tradition rooted in the guru-shishya lineage and not a means of gaining social media fame. It also claimed there was no evidence that the woman was associated with any recognised Aghori guru or established tradition.

Vishnu Nath further said that if the viral footage involves an actual human body, it constitutes an inhuman act and may amount to an offence under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) relating to indignity to human remains.

Arrest Made After Viral Video

Police registered a case under Section 301 of the BNS for trespass at a cremation ground and offering indignity to human remains, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.

Kali alias Nand Giri was later arrested and produced before a first-class judicial magistrate.
