Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the state budget for the financial year 2024-25 on Monday, where the state government has also allocated funds for various schemes to improve the transport system, health facilities and urban expansion in Bareilly district. The budget has been welcomed by local authorities and officials as it seeks to improve the infrastructure in the region.
The budget includes Rs 800 crore for the Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme (CM GRIDS), which aims to make the roads more environment-friendly and model. Under this scheme, the Municipal Corporation had sent an action plan of Rs 55 crore for this scheme, which covers several roads in the city, including the one from Stadium Road of Model Town to Leprosy Asylum. Mayor Umesh Gautam said that he expects the funds to be released soon for these projects.
The budget also has Rs 5,500 crore for the maintenance and construction of roads from the State Road Fund. This will benefit the six-lane Pilibhit bypass, which connects the district headquarters to the state road fund. The Public Works Department had sent a proposal of Rs 300 crore for this project, which is also expected to get the green light soon.

Another major scheme in the budget is the Chief Minister Urban Expansion-New City Promotion Scheme, which has a provision of Rs 3,000 crore. Under this scheme, the proposed Integrated Nath Dham Housing Scheme on Badaun Road will be implemented.
The scheme will provide affordable plots and housing to the needy of the city, along with other facilities such as a logistics hub, medical city and stadium. The Bareilly Development Authority has demanded Rs 500 crore from the government for this scheme. BDA Secretary Yogendra Kumar said that he is excited by the prospects of the scheme.
The budget also focuses on health and wellness centres and integrated public health labs. The government has allocated funds for the construction of these facilities, which will enhance the health services in the district. The district hospital will have an integrated public health lab, which will be linked to the block public health labs of all the blocks of the district.
Eight BPHLs were to be constructed in the district, out of which five have been completed and three are pending. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Vishram Singh said that he hopes that the construction of all health and wellness centres and integrated public health labs will be completed as soon as possible. He said that this will benefit the general public, as the data of all diseases and tests will become completely online.
