Yogi Cabinet Expansion: The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet saw its much-awaited expansion on Sunday as Governor Anandiben Patel administered the oath of office and secrecy to eight MLAs. The swearing-in ceremony took place at Jan Bhavan at around 3:30.

Among the MLAs who were inducted into the Yogi Adityanath Cabinet are Bhupendra Chaudhary, Unchahar MLA Manoj Kumar Pandey, Dr Somendra Tomar, Ajit Pal, Krishna Paswan, Kailash Singh Rajput, Surendra Diler, and Hansraj Vishwakarma.

Structure of UP Cabinet

The Yogi Adityanath government 2.0 currently has 21 cabinet ministers, including the Chief Minister and two Deputy Chief Ministers. They are accompanied by 14 Ministers of State (Independent Charge) and 18 Ministers of State.

While the government has 54 ministers in total, a maximum of 60 ministers can be appointed (15 per cent of assembly strength).

The induction of eight new ministers was done without the removal of any incumbent ministers from the cabinet and in line with balancing the caste equations in the state.

Bhupendra Chaudhary is a prominent Jaat leader and was part of the Yogi 1.0 till 2022. In 2022, he resigned after being made the BJP state unit chief.

Manoj Kumar Pandey, a Brahmin face, is an MLA from Unchahar in Rae Bareli district. He had joined the BJP after rebelling against the Samajwadi Party (SP), a prime Opposition party in the state.

Hansraj Vishwakarma, who belongs to the extremely backward caste, is a Legislative Council member from Varanasi.

Krishna Paswan is an MLA from Khaga in Fatehpur and belongs to the Scheduled Caste

Surendra Diler is an MLA from Khair in Aligarh, while Kailash Singh Rajput is an MLA from Tirwa in Kannauj.
