UP Power Cut: A huge political row has erupted in Uttar Pradesh after politicians across the parties flagged the issue of power cuts in the state. The heat this year has broken several previous records, with Banda becoming the hottest district of the country. The frequent and long-hour power cuts have worsened the situation, leading to inconvenience for the residents. Along with the opposition leaders, the BJP MLAs have also appealed to resolve the issue.
Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav criticised the BJP government for the frequent power cuts, further advising the people to not express their anger towards the employees. Apart from this, BSP supremo Mayawati also raised the issue and stated that the disrupted power supply has affected the lives of millions in the state. She further advised the state government to take sufficient steps to ensure smooth electricity supply in the state.
"Even in a state like Uttar Pradesh with its vast population, during this season of severe heat, the common complaints regarding inadequate electricity supply, frequent outages, and the like have made life extremely distressing for the poor, middle class, farmers, small traders, and millions of other hardworking people," BSP chief Mayawati stated in a post on X.
Apart from this, several BJP leaders, including Prateek Bhushan Singh, Nirmal Verma, and Rajeshwar Singh, have also raised the issue. The legislators have written a letter to the energy minister, AK Sharma, urging him to take necessary steps to ensure a flawless electricity supply.
The leaders pointed out that irregular electricity supply amid the scorching heat has made the lives difficult. The BJP leaders have also faced public anger at several sites, showing public anger on this issue. The assembly election in Uttar Pradesh is set to be conducted in the early hours of 2027.
