Jagran Correspondent | Ghaziabad: A 28-year-old woman named Neetu was discovered hanging at her in-laws' residence in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The incident comes nearly six months after her marriage. The woman's family alleged that their daughter's death was staged. Police have registered a case and have initiated an investigation.
The woman's family claimed that her in-laws were responsible for her death. Following this, the police registered a case against nine people under various sections, including dowry demand, murder, and so on.
What Did Investigation Reveal?
Police said Neetu tied knots with Sumit Kumar, a resident of Ranagar Ataur, in December last year. Kumar works as a contract worker at the Electricity Corporation in Vasundhara. Neetu was preparing for a government job.
A neighbor said that nearly 15 lakhs were spent at the wedding, along with household items and gold and silver jewellery. Despite this, her in-laws continued to demand additional dowry items, specifically a motorcycle and a gold chain. Neetu faced ongoing harassment from her in-laws.

On Saturday, Neetu's husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and other relatives strangled her to death. They staged it like a suicide; her body was hung from a steel railing on the third floor of the house with a sari noose. Family members allege that they were not informed of the incident.
Case Registered
Neetu's family alleged that they reached Ghaziabad after receiving information from one of their acquaintances. They protested at the police station regarding the matter and demanded the arrest of the accused.

After the protest, the police registered a case against the deceased's husband Sumit Kumar; father-in-law Feru Singh; mother-in-law Anita; aunt Sheela; Priyanka; Anshul; sister-in-law Ambika; and brothers-in-law Rohit and Rahul. The police have arrested the accused husband, mother-in-law, and father-in-law. ACP Nandgram Ziauddin Ahmed states that they will take further action based on the post-mortem report and other evidence.
