In a shocking incident of brutality, a 24-year-old newlywed from Kerala has alleged that she was brutally tortured when she went with her husband to settle in Saudi Arabia. The victim, who was identified as Anju, married four months ago, levelled chilling allegations against her husband, Nandu, who, according to her, thrashed her private parts with a pressure cooker, laptop charger, and even cleaning mops.
The woman is currently undergoing treatment at Kollam District General Hospital. Based on her complaint, Chavara police have registered a case against her husband and his parents.
Shocking ordeal of brutality
Speaking to reports on Sunday, Anju alleged harassment began within a week of the marriage, when her husband’s family reportedly complained that the dowry she had brought was insufficient. She alleged that the abuse continued and intensified after Nandu left for Saudi Arabia about a month after their wedding and later took her there.

Anju alleged that her husband repeatedly assaulted her using objects available at home, including a pressure cooker, a stone and laptop charger cables. She claimed that she suffered a serious head injury after being struck with a pressure cooker. She also alleged that Nandu kicked her in the abdomen and assaulted her in her private areas.
The woman said she has multiple injury marks on her body, which she attributed to repeated physical assaults.
Apart from the alleged physical violence, Anju also accused her husband of subjecting her to severe psychological harassment. She claimed that he threatened her with a knife and forced her to record voice messages containing derogatory statements about herself.
"Wanted to work in sex racked"
According to her complaint, she was also allegedly forced to record a statement claiming that she wanted to work in a sex racket after divorcing him.
Anju said she was eventually brought back to Kerala following the alleged abuse, after which she sought medical treatment and approached the police. She has also alleged that details concerning the alleged assaults on her abdomen and private parts were not properly recorded when her statement was taken at the hospital.
The police have begun an investigation into the allegations. Further details are expected to emerge as investigators record statements and examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse in Kerala and Saudi Arabia.
