The United States has reacted to the recent allegations against India regarding targeted killings in Pakistan and has urged both countries to seek a resolution through dialogue. The statement comes in the wake of reports citing Pakistani evidence, as reported by UK daily The Guardian, which accused India of conducting up to 20 targeted assassinations since the Pulwama attack in 2019. US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said that the US government will refrain from interference but encourages de-escalation and peaceful resolution through dialogue. India had previously dismissed the allegations as "false and malicious anti-India propaganda" following The Guardian's report.

"We have been following the media reports about this issue. We don't have any comment on the underlying allegations. But of course, while we're not going to get in the middle of this situation, we encourage both sides to avoid escalation and find a resolution through dialogue," Miller said in a press briefing.

The report by The Guardian alleged that India's intelligence agency RAW was involved in targeted killings and referenced evidence provided by Pakistan. It also suggested that India had adopted a policy of targeting individuals deemed hostile to the country, drawing parallels with intelligence agencies like Mossad and KGB.

Following that, India swiftly rejected the allegations, with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar saying that targeted killings in other countries were not part of India's government policy.

Earlier, both Canada and the US had made similar accusations against India, involving incidents related to Khalistani separatists.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had mentioned "credible allegations" of Indian involvement in the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Khalistani separatist, while the US had blamed an attempt to kill another separatist, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. India, however, refuted these claims, stating that such allegations impinge on national security interests.

In response to the allegations, India highlighted the involvement of a rogue official and clarified to the US that the individual in question was no longer associated with the agency.
