Uttarakhand: Barkot-Silkyara Bend Tunnel Project along NH-134, was unveiled in the presence of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta on Friday. The tunnel will reduce Dharasu and Yamunotri travel time from nearly an hour to just five minutes.
Barkot-Silkyara Bend Tunnel Details
4.531 km long Barkot-Silkyara Bend Tunnel is a two-lane unidirectional structure that will improve all-weather connectivity between Dharasu and Yamunotri. This tunnel will significantly reduce travel time from around an hour to just five minutes. This will give a major boost to regional trade, tourism, and socio-economic development, while also protecting the area’s delicate forest ecosystems.
The engineering firm Rodic Consultants played a crucial role in supervising the construction. From quality checks and safety measures to smart tech solutions, Rodic ensured that work met the highest standards.

Barkot-Silkyara Bend Tunnel Project now moves into its final stage, which means road surface works and setting up electrical and mechanical systems. Once fully operational, this tunnel will stand as a symbol of smart infrastructure, teamwork, and hope for the hill state.
