The Uttarakhand government has announced the calendar of public holidays for 2025, listing 29 public holidays for the year. No new holidays have been added this year, maintaining the existing schedule. Of the 29 holidays, government offices operating under a five-day week will observe only 25 holidays as four holidays fall on Saturdays. 

The General Administration Department clarified that District Magistrates are authorised to declare three local holidays annually based on local significance. However, the Secretariat and Legislative Assembly will remain operational on such local holidays.

Meanwhile, the state government is gearing up for the first International Migrant Uttarakhandi Conference in Dehradun on 12 January. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has reviewed the preparations, emphasising sessions on investment opportunities, tourism, wellness and startups. 

Departments including Industry, Tourism, and Agriculture will showcase the state’s folk heritage. Proper arrangements for security and logistics have been directed, with nodal officers to oversee specific sessions.
