Jagran Correspondent, Dehradun: After heavy rain and hailstorms late Wednesday night in many areas of Uttarakhand, the weather has become pleasant. Power supply in several areas was also affected as a result. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated a change in the weather from Thursday.
Rain lashed Mussoorie, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Tehri, and Kotdwar on Thursday morning. Haldwani, meanwhile, experienced rain and hailstorms late last night, but the weather cleared in the morning. Most areas of the state remained cloudy on Thursday morning.
According to IMD, an alert has been issued today regarding heavy rain, storm, hailstorm and lightning in eight districts including Dehradun.
Temperatures Likely To Drop
Maximum temperatures in the plain areas of Uttarakhand were above normal, and in many places, significantly above normal. In the mountainous regions, temperatures ranged from below normal to above normal. Maximum temperatures are expected to drop by two to four degrees Celsius over the next two to three days, after which there will be no significant change.
Stormy Weather Conditions To Prevail On Friday As Well
According to the Meteorological Center, a western disturbance is expected to become active in Uttarakhand today. Under its influence, light to moderate rain is expected at most locations in Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar, and Champawat districts.
At the same time, snowfall is also possible in areas with elevations of 4,200 metre or higher. Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are also forecast at many locations in the state's mountainous districts, including Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Almora, and Pithoragarh.
IMD has issued an orange alert for Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Haridwar, Nainital, Pithoragarh, Udham Singh Nagar, and Champawat districts. These districts are expected to experience isolated thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, heavy to very heavy rainfall, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50 to 60 kilometre per hour. Similar weather conditions are expected on Friday.
