Uttarakhand Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy spells of rain with thunder and lightning in all the hilly areas and Udham Singh Nagar on Thursday. The weather body has issued a yellow alert in this regard. There are also chances of lightning and heavy showers in the plain districts as well.

Monsoon activity has weakened in Uttarakhand over the last couple of days. However, spells of heavy rainfall are continuing at some places. The mercury has also risen due to bright sunshine in the plains.

On Wednesday, Dehradun and its surrounding areas experienced bright sunshine in the morning, leading to rise in temperature and increased heat. The maximum temperature in Dehradun was recorded at 33 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees above the seasonal average. Across most parts of the state, both maximum and minimum temperatures have risen by two to three degrees Celsius.

PM Modi's Uttarakhand Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on September 11. In Varanasi, PM Modi will host the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, who is on a State Visit to India from September 9 to 16.

Thereafter, the Prime Minister will travel to Dehradun, where he will undertake an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Uttarakhand and chair a high-level review meeting with officials.
