Bihar’s former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav has made headlines once again after he detailed his cricketing journey in a recent interview. The son of former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, has claimed that the star India batter Virat Kohli played under his captaincy in domestic cricket. Yadav, however, expressed displeasure with the fact that his cricketing stint was totally forgotten after he stopped playing due to medical conditions. He further claimed that several team India players were his batchmates. The remarks came after Jan Suraaj chief Prashant Kishor hit out at Yadav, alleging that a ‘9th fail’ politician could not lead the state to development with a lack of education. Kishor argued that Tejashwi's reliance on his father's reputation undermines his own qualifications and capabilities as a leader, alleging that he lacks merit-based credentials.
"I was a cricketer and no one talks about it. Virat Kohli played in my captaincy - did anyone ever talk about it? Why don't they do so? As a professional, I played good cricket. Many Team India players are my batchmates. I had to quit as both my ligaments were fractured. Let it be. There are many brokers of the BJP including political parties and leaders whom the party fields during election seasons against me," said Tejashwi Yadav, as quoted by a Zee Media report.
The statement from Tejashwi Yadav has gone viral on social media, drawing varied reactions from Virat Kohli fans.
Tejaswi Yadav said, "Virat Kohli used to play under my captaincy. I was very good at cricket, but due to injuries I had to leave it. Virat and I played together for Delhi". (ZEE). pic.twitter.com/HREKLkfssn
