Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, indicating the potential for extremely heavy rainfall.

Severe Weather In Kerala, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

Recent severe weather, including cloudbursts, flash floods and landslides, has already taken a heavy toll. In Kerala, over 300 fatalities have been reported, while Uttarakhand has seen 15 deaths and Himachal Pradesh has recorded 9 deaths with 47 people missing. The IMD warns that these areas can expect more heavy rain in the coming days.

Heavy Rains In Rajasthan, UP, Punjab

The IMD predicts isolated heavy rains over Jammu and Kashmir from August 3 to 5 and over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan from August 3 to 10. Punjab and Haryana-Chandigarh are expected to experience heavy showers on August 4 and August 7.

Orange Alert Issued For Maharashtra

The Konkan and Goa regions are bracing for heavy to very heavy rains from August 3 to 7, while Madhya Maharashtra is set to face similar conditions from August 3 to 6. In Maharashtra, a red alert has been issued for Palghar, Pune and Satara, with an orange alert for very heavy rains in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Nasik.

Assam, Manipur, Odisha, West Bengal Weather Forecast

In the northeastern states, very heavy rains are predicted over Assam and Meghalaya on August 6 and 7 and over Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on August 5. Isolated heavy rains are also expected in Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and parts of the Northeast from August 3 to 10.

Tamil Nadu, Karnataka weather

In the south, very heavy rains are forecast for Coastal Karnataka on August 4, while heavy rainfall is likely over Kerala, Mahe and Tamil Nadu from August 3 to 5, and Coastal Karnataka from August 3 to 6.
