Weather Update: The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday stated that New Delhi is expected to experience heatwaves and humidity throughout the day. The maximum temperature is expected to rise up to 38.9 degrees Celsius, whereas the minimum temperature is expected to fall to 28.8 degrees Celsius. The weather department forecasted rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in the national capital. Several places in the city may receive heavy wind with the speed of 40-60 km/h.
Heatwave Persists In UP, MP And Several States
On the contrary, a severe heatwave continues to grip about eight states across the country, where despite pre-monsoon activity, the temperature remains above 40 degrees Celsius.
Banda city in Uttar Pradesh, was recorded as the hottest place in the country with a temperature of 44.2 degrees Celsius, while cities like Prayagraj, Khajuraho, and Brahmapuri also recorded mercury around 42 to 43 degrees.

Meanwhile, heatwave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana. Hot and humid weather will continue to impact Odisha and North Interior Karnataka. Conversely, weather patterns are expected to remain normal in states like Gujarat, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Heavy Rain In Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra
Heavy rainfall is anticipated in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Kanyakumari, and Ghat areas of Tirunelveli districts starting Sunday, attributed to the intensifying southwest monsoon, according to sources from the IMD. The latest weather report from the Regional Meteorological Center on Sunday said that the rain is likely to continue till Monday over these places.
Heavy rain is likely to occur in one or two places over the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts in Karnataka.Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at most places over the Uttara Kannada district. Kerala and Telangana are also likely to receive heavy rainfall within the next two days.
After an unusually delayed onset of the southwest monsoon, parts of Mumbai received light to moderate showers on Sunday morning, offering some respite to people from the prevailing heat and humidity. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated favourable conditions for further advancement of the southwest monsoon over parts of Maharashtra. The showers are likely to continue on Monday as well.
Rain To Lash Out in Northeastern States As Well
While the monsoon and pre-monsoon conditions have altered the weather in many parts of the country, a serious warning has been issued for heavy rainfall in the northeastern states. The Meteorological Department has issued red and orange alerts for heavy rainfall in states like Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Sikkim, leading to heavy rain and thunderstorms in several districts.
