Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a Yellow alert for rainfall in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh. The weather department emphasised that the rain will lead to a dip in the temperature in both of these states. The IMD also stated that northern states like Haryana and Punjab are likely to experience dense fog, especially in the early hours of the day.
The temperature in Delhi-NCR and Uttar Pradesh was higher than the usual temperature in the month of January for the past few day due to the sunlight. However, the fresh spells of rain might lead to a dip in the temperature. Besides, both of the states are also likely to experience dense fog, leading to visibility issues. Several of the flights and trains operating from Delhi got delayed because of the poor weather in the past few weeks.
The weather department has also stated that several states, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to receive light rainfall and snowfall on Thursday. Apart from this, states like West Bengal, Assam, and Nicobar islands are also expected to experience light rain on Thursday. The eastern region of the country are likely to experience dense fog in the upcoming days. Apart from this, northern, central, and north-east region of the country is likely to experience light rain and fog in the early hours of the day.
The IMD, while providing details explained that the change in the weather pattern of these states is due to a western disturbance. However, weather department also emphasised that it is likely to get weakened after Thursday. The rain in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Assam is because of the western disturbance. Apart from this, a weather system is also likely to become active in the northeast region; however, it will be weakened till Sunday.
