Bihar’s Banka, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Purnia, Kishanganj, Araria, Madhepura, Saharsa and Supaul districts witnessed heavy rain as monsoon made its entry in the state on Tuesday. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, monsoon will be fully activated in Bihar today, with heavy showers accompanied by strong winds forecasted in several parts of the state.
Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rains for the last two days as monsoon had entered the state a few days back. However, the intensity of the downpour is likely to reduce now, as the low-pressure area has started to move towards the northwest.
Pre-monsoon showers drenched Delhi NCR on Tuesday, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat. The rain, accompanied by strong winds, not only reduced the humidity but also brought a significant drop in temperature.
According to the weather department, there is a forecast for thunderstorms and rain on Wednesday as well. Monsoon is also likely to hit the national capital by the weekend. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain on Wednesday. Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and wind speed of 50 to 60 km per hour has been forecasted, especially during the night. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 34 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.
Heavy rains may continue in the northeastern states. Rainfall activity will reduce slightly in Karnataka and Maharashtra, while moderate rains may occur in coastal areas. The Meteorological Department believes that despite the break, the monsoon is not behind. It has arrived before its time and may soon cover the entire country.
