Weather News: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy spells of rain at isolated places over Mumbai, Thane and the surrounding regions in the next three hours. A yellow alert has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Nashik districts, cautioning residents about the likelihood of thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The situation is equally grave in the neighboring state of Goa, where the education department has announced a holiday for all schools on Monday in response to the heavy rain forecast. The coastal state is bracing for a deluge as the IMD has issued an orange alert for Pune and a red alert for Ratnagiri district in Maharashtra.

Kerala Weather

Turning southwards, the IMD has issued a red alert for Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in Kerala, indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. An orange alert has been hoisted for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts, urging residents to remain vigilant.

Kerala Govt Declares School And Colleges Holiday

In response to the dire weather predictions, the Kerala government has declared a holiday for schools and colleges across six districts on Monday. Karnataka, too, is expected to witness intense rainfall over the coastal regions and the Western Ghats during the next two days.

Meanwhile, the situation in Assam, in the northeast, appears to be improving. The flood waters have receded significantly, with the IMD's Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati forecasting only some rains in the Barak valley and a few central districts. However, the overall toll from this year's floods, landslides, storms and lightning strikes in Assam has reached 109.
