Weather News: The cyclone Montha, which rose in the Bay of Bengal, has started to weaken but continues to impact weather conditions around the country. With its strong influence, the storm is bringing heavy rains in Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha, Sikkim, UP, and many other places.

In UP, many districts observed heavy downpours, with drizzle continuing till morning today.

Bihar-Jharkhand Likely To Witness Rain Havoc

As per the IMD, very heavy to extremely heavy rains are likely in Bihar and Jharkhand on October 31. On the same day, some places in sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may get extremely heavy rainfall.

UP Districts To Witness Rain

Due to the aforementioned weather system, thundershowers with rain are expected in some eastern UP districts on October 31. Atul Kumar Singh, a senior scientist at the IMD's regional office in Lucknow, was quoted by Jagran.com as saying that clouds will start moving in as the system affects the area.

Darjeeling's Sandakphu Shut Amid Rain Alert

After the weather department issued a heavy rain warning with a red alert for Darjeeling and several districts in Bengal, the state government has closed the popular tourist spot, Sandakphu. Keeping the tourists' safety in view, the move was taken.

Landslide Risk Rises Amid Cyclone Montha

Officials said that rains from Cyclone 'Montha' have increased the danger of landslides. Sandakphu is located on Bengal's highest mountain peak, at 3,636 meters above sea level. As part of Singalila National Park and near the Nepal border, it offers stunning views of Kanchenjunga and Everest peaks. That's why lakhs of tourists visit here every year. All tourists have been asked to leave Sandakphu by 1 PM on Friday. It will reopen for visitors once the weather improves.

Tourists Are Suggested To Avoid Trips

Chandan Pradhan, president of Singalila Land Rover Association, was quoted by Jagran.com as saying that tourists are starting to return. Those still there will head back after breakfast on Friday morning. "Our top priority is the safety of tourists' lives and property," he added.

Severe pollution grips Delhi-NCR

People in the Delhi-NCR region have been facing severe pollution for several days now. Pollutant particles in the air are often above safe limits. A thick smog layer covers Delhi's sky, with haze and pollution thickest in mornings and evenings.
