Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several northern states are likely to witness cold waves and dense fog for the next few days. The temperature in the northern states has dropped significantly in the past two days, leading to inconveniences. The weather department stated that the hilly states are set to experience fresh snowfall in the upcoming days. The presence of dense fog, especially in the early hours, has disrupted the flight and train services, leading to inconveniences for the passengers. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and western Madhya Pradesh, are set to witness a cold wave for the next few days. The presence of dense fog has led to inconveniences for the commuters in the early hours. The weather department has also advised the farmers of these states to protect their crops. The Railways on Sunday informed that several trains to the northern states have been running late due to the fog.
The residents of Delhi and nearby cities are set to witness a cold wave and fog for the next few days. While the maximum temperature is likely to be calculated at 19 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is set to remain around 7 degrees Celsius. The weather department has also stated that the air quality is not likely to significantly improve in the upcoming days.
The IMD has stated that several regions of hilly states, including Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Pahalgam, and other upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, are set to witness snowfall. The weather department stated that these states are also set to witness light rain till January 6, adding that these regions have witnessed a surge in tourists.
