Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the northern states are likely to witness thick fog and a cold wave for the next few days. The weather department stated that the minimum temperature is set to drop by two to three degrees Celsius in these states. While the hilly states are set to experience snowfall, the coastal regions of the southern states are likely to witness light to moderate rain. The IMD also stated that the presence of dense fog, especially in the morning hours, will lead to issues for the commuters. The weather department has advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
Northern States To Witness Dense Fog
While providing details, the weather department stated that several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, are likely to witness dense fog and cold waves. It further stated that the other regions, such as Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, West Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha, are also expected to witness cold wave conditions on Saturday. While the maximum temperature in these regions is likely to be calculated at 25 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 9 degrees Celsius.

Snowfall Likely In Hilly Regions
The IMD stated that several regions of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh are likely to witness snowfall or light rain till December 17. The temperature is also expected to drop by two to three degrees Celsius in these regions. The weather department has advised the tourists to follow the guidelines and stay updated to avoid chaos.
Rain Expected In Coastal Regions
The coastal regions of several southern states, including Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, are likely to witness light to moderate rain. These regions are also set to witness thunderstorms and lightning, leading to inconveniences. The weather department has advised the fishermen to maintain a distance from the water bodies in the upcoming days.
