The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that while most of the states have been witnessing record-breaking heat for the past few days, rainfall in some of these states is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat. The IMD stated that the states in northern and central regions are experiencing heat, adding that the maximum temperature in Rajasthan's Barmer was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius, the maximum since 1998 in the month of April.
Apart from this, the weather department also stated that residents of Delhi have been experiencing scorching heat in the night hours too. While providing details, it stated that the maximum temperature in the night hours was recorded at 25.6 degrees Celsius, the highest in the past three years.

The weather department stated that a western disturbance will lead to a change in weather conditions over northwest India for the next few days. It stated that several states, including Delhi, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall in the next few days.
“Under the influence of Western Disturbance; rainfall along with thunderstorm & lightning, gusty/squally winds likely over Northwest India during 09th-11th April,” the weather agency stated in the latest forecast. However, the weather department stated that these states, after a brief relief, are again likely to experience an increase in temperature from April 15.
“No significant change in maximum temperatures likely over Northwest India, Gujarat and Maharashtra during the next 24 hours and fall by 2-4°C during subsequent 3 days; rise by 2-4°C thereafter,” the weather agency stated.
