Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday stated that several states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall in the upcoming few days. The northeastern states have been receiving rainfall for the past few days, and the weather department also confirmed that the region will continue to witness rainfall for the next five days. Apart from this, the IMD also stated that northern states, including Delhi-NCR, parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Haryana, are expected to receive light rainfall until June 7. The weather department confirmed that the temperature is likely to reduce in these states by two to three degrees Celsius, providing a major relief from the scorching heat.
Earlier on Sunday, the weather department stated that the northeastern states are likely to witness rainfall for the next five to seven days. It had also informed that the heavy rainfall has affected the lives of lakhs of people in these states, adding 10 rivers, including the Brahmaputra, are flowing above the danger mark and 78 thousand people in more than 15 districts are affected by the floods in Assam. Nearly 30 people have already died in the first spell of rains and floods across the northeast.
The weather department also informed that several regions of Delhi-NCR witnessed light to moderate rainfall along with strong winds on Sunday. It further stated that the rainfall reduced the temperature by almost two degrees Celsius, providing major relief from the heat. The weather department also stated that the temperature is not likely to increase in the next three days. The IMD stated that there is a possibility of rain in some areas on Monday as well, adding that the rain may lead to issues like waterlogging and power outages.
Apart from this, several other states, including Rajasthan, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till June 8.
