Weather Updates:The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for dense fog in several northern states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. The weather department stated that the dense fog and cold wave have led to a significant drop in the temperature in these states in the last few days. Apart from this, the IMD has also stated that several districts of Himachal Pradesh might receive snowfall on Sunday.
The dense fog in Delhi-NCR has affected the visibility, leading to delays in the operation of flights and trains. The weather department stated that the state will continue to deal with dense fog, especially in the early hours of the day. While the minimum temperature in the national capital is expected to remain around 10 degrees Celsius, the maximum temperature will likely stay at 21 degrees Celsius. Besides, the IMD clarified that the state can receive light rainfall on Wednesday due to a western disturbance.

Heavy snowfall in several districts of Jammu and Kashmir has led to a significant dip in temperature in these areas. The snowfall also led to massive traffic congestions in the key areas. Apart from the Anantnag-Sinthantop-Kishtwar Road, Bandipora-Gurez, Kupwara-Karnah, and Mughal Road in Poonch, many connecting roads remained closed for traffic. The weather department clarified that the situation will get worse from January 20 to 23 due to a western disturbance. It stated that several districts will receive rain and snowfall in the upcoming days. The IMD has advised the residents of these areas to stay alert and drive carefully.

The IMD informed that several regions of Punjab are expected to deal with dense fog in the morning and evening hours. Several districts of Haryana and Rajasthan are also expected to grapple with the issue of dense fog. Besides, light rainfall is expected in several districts of Uttarakhand, including Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, which are expected to receive light rainfall in the next two days.
