Weather Update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a cold wave in parts of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan for the next few days. Meanwhile, Delhi saw a second cold day on Wednesday. As per the weather body, dense to very dense fog is likely to persist in the morning hours in parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan between January 8 and 10. Dense fog is also likely to persist in many areas of Uttar Pradesh on Thursday morning.

Delhi saw a maximum temperature of 16.7 degrees Celsius, 2.3 degrees below normal. As per IMD, dense fog will engulf the national capital on Thursday morning. A yellow alert has been issued in this regard. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 16 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

On Wednesday, fresh snowfall occurred in areas around Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir. In Kashmir's Doda district, tourists gathered in large numbers at Guldanda (9,555 feet), Panj Nallah (10,200 feet) and Chattergalla (10,500 feet) on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot highway to enjoy the snow-clad mountain views.

The mercury dropped below five degrees Celsius in parts of Haryana and Punjab. Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 7.6 degrees Celsius. Bathinda in Punjab was the coldest place in the state, with a minimum temperature of 4.6 degrees Celsius.

In Rajasthan, multiple areas saw cold-day conditions. Minimum temperatures ranged between 4.5 and 10 degrees Celsius across most parts of the state.

Dense fog was witnessed in some parts of Jaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Ajmer and Udaipur in the morning, reducing visibility to almost zero and affecting traffic on highways. Sikar was the coldest place in the state, recording a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius.
