The northern part of India, including Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, will continue to sizzle in searing heat. With the onset of ‘Nautapa’ from May 25, the temperature in some parts of the country could reach up to 49 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heatwaves in Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana.
In Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, some areas of eastern Madhya Pradesh, and Vidarbha, heatwaves are likely to continue until May 28. In eastern Uttar Pradesh, hot winds are expected from May 26 to May 28, while in western Madhya Pradesh, hot winds will blow on May 27 and 28.
In Rajasthan, heatwaves are likely from May 24 to May 28, while in some areas of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and western Uttar Pradesh, heatwaves will occur during this period. In western Madhya Pradesh, heatwaves are likely from May 24 to May 26, and in Delhi, heatwaves could persist until May 28.
Cyclone Remal:
Cyclone Remal is expected to make landfall in West Bengal today. According to the Meteorological Department, the cyclone will reach the coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh on May 26 with exceptionally strong winds and rainfall.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued a high alert for Bengal and Odisha for May 26. Due to this cyclone, rain and strong winds are also expected in other northeastern states such as Tripura, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur. The IMD has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several southern states, including Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, until May 28.

In preparation for the impending disaster, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has stated that its teams are fully equipped and ready to handle any eventuality. NDRF inspector Zaheer Abbas assured that their soldiers are well-prepared to deal with tree-fall, flood rescue, and other emergencies.
