Weather Update: The combined effect of an active western disturbance over the Himalayan region and a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring significant weather changes across the country in the next two to three days.

Snowfall in the hills and light rain in the plains will trigger a drop in temperatures, signalling the onset of true winter. Weather experts say that by the second week of November, the impact of cold winds will intensify across North India.

Rain Likely in Several States

Fog, mist, chills, and cold morning-evening breezes are clear signs that the real winter season is about to begin. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), snowfall is likely in the upper reaches of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on November 4–5, with rain expected in lower areas.

This long-awaited snowfall in the mountains will not only increase the cold but also push chilly winds into the plains. Several districts in Uttarakhand are showing signs of biting cold, while light rain and falling temperatures are forecast for Punjab, Haryana, and the Delhi-NCR region.

Weather Update: Uttar Pradesh Sees Impact
The effects will extend to western Uttar Pradesh. In the national capital, maximum temperatures have hovered around 30 degrees Celsius in recent days, but minimum temperatures have already dipped below normal. Due to the western disturbance, light drizzle and northwesterly winds will persist until Sunday, intensifying the chill. Changing wind directions may cause a temporary spike in pollution levels.

However, conditions are expected to improve after three to four days. According to the IMD, the onset of winter has begun in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar as well. Minimum temperatures could drop by up to 4 degrees Celsius in the coming days, with cold winds blowing in the mornings and evenings.

Rain Likely in Madhya Pradesh Too

Scattered rainfall is possible in western Madhya Pradesh—from Bhopal to Guna—on November 4 and 5. Light showers may also occur in south-western Madhya Pradesh and northern Maharashtra. This will lead to a drop in temperatures and increased nighttime chill.

The low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is now moving toward Myanmar and Bangladesh. Due to its influence, heavy rainfall is possible in Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Nagaland. Another low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea has weakened, but its mild impact will linger over southern Rajasthan, eastern Gujarat, and Maharashtra.
