The minimum temperature in Delhi dropped to 4.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday, intensifying the cold wave across the NCR. The chill, which had initially affected hilly states, has now spread to the plains, with temperatures in Delhi even falling below those in Shimla. The cold wave is expected to persist in Delhi and surrounding areas, with temperatures ranging from 4-7 degrees Celsius at night and a daytime high of 22-24 degrees Celsius. Light fog may also occur.

A cold wave alert has been issued for Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab, with temperatures in these states expected to remain between 2-5 degrees Celsius at night and 20-22 degrees Celsius during the day. Severe cold is also expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, where temperatures may drop further and snowfall is likely in some regions.

In Shimla, the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.2 degrees Celsius, but clear skies and mild sunshine later provided some relief. In Delhi, temperatures have been significantly below normal, with Sunday’s minimum degrees Celsius lower than usual. On Friday and Saturday, Delhi's temperatures were 9 degrees Celsius and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively, while a cold wave had already affected parts of the city earlier in the week.
