West Bengal Shocker: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly tortured and gangraped by three men in Kolkata’s Dum Dum area on Saturday evening while she was on her way to tuition, police said on Sunday. Soon after the incident, the three accused were arrested and charged in connection with the case.
Minor Girl Gangraped In Kolkata
According to a report by NDTV, the 14-year-old girl knew one of the accused. The two were at a park for some time before two more men joined them. The three accused allegedly forced the girl into an e-rickshaw and took her to a house in Motilal Colony, where, the police said, she was tortured and gangraped.
The 14-year-old girl, a student of Class 7, was on her way to tuition when the incident occurred. The girl, however, managed to escape and returned home late at night in a distressed state.
She then told her parents about the incident, prompting them to file a complaint at the Dum Dum Police Station. The three accused, identified as Sanju Saha, Vicky Paswan, and Rajesh Paswan, have been arrested and charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code, including sections pertaining to gang rape and unlawful confinement.
Following the arrests, Saha has been remanded to five days of judicial custody, while Vicky and Rajesh have been sent to one day of judicial custody. The incident sparked widespread outrage with local BJP workers protesting outside the Dum Dum police station, demanding strict action against the accused.
